It’s a family affair first up as Ireland get their Olympic Games up and running at 1.30pm. Cousins Dan Martin and Nico Roche will both he hopeful of being in them medals shake-up in the men’s road race. We’ll keep you updated throughout.

Sanita Puspure is about to get her second Olympic Games underway.
The Latvian-born Cork rower will go in Heat 3 of the women’s single sculls within the next 10 minutes.

So, that’s not a bad start. In rough conditions, the Cork-based rower looked comfortable in claiming a second-place finish with a time of 9:11.45.
Puspure, beaten by Canadian Carling Zeeman to first, will now prepare for a quarter-final on Tuesday.

A strong swim from Quinn and he finishes fourth in his heat. His time of 1:01.29 is the fourth fastest after two heats with the top 16 times set to advance. It’s a case of watch this space with four heats remaining in the 100m breaststroke.

Dan Martin has equaled Ireland’s best ever time in the men’s Olympic road race as he finished in 13th position. Nicholas Roche crossed the line in 29th, with Belgium’s Greg Van Avermaet taking gold.
