It’s a family affair first up as Ireland get their Olympic Games up and running at 1.30pm. Cousins Dan Martin and Nico Roche will both he hopeful of being in them medals shake-up in the men’s road race. We’ll keep you updated throughout.

Rower Sanita Puspure about to go in women's single sculls

Sanita Puspure is about to get her second Olympic Games underway.

The Latvian-born Cork rower will go in Heat 3 of the women’s single sculls within the next 10 minutes.

Sanita Puspure claims quarter-final spot with second in heats

So, that’s not a bad start. In rough conditions, the Cork-based rower looked comfortable in claiming a second-place finish with a time of 9:11.45.

Puspure, beaten by Canadian Carling Zeeman to first, will now prepare for a quarter-final on Tuesday.

Impressive stuff as Pádraig McCarthy on Simon Porloe scores 46.80 in the dressage.

Over at the Olympic Equestrian Centre, Clare Abbott is about to go with Euro Prince in the dressage.

Ireland’s Dan Martin is in good position in the men’s road race with just 70km to go. He’s just in front of the main bunch as the riders prepare to tackle a tough climb.

Nicholas Quinn is about to go in the 100m breaststroke

Ireland’s first representative in the pool goes at 7.07pm with Nicholas Quinn going in Heat 2 of the men’s 100m breaststroke. The 23-year-old is in Lane 3.

A strong swim from Quinn and he finishes fourth in his heat. His time of 1:01.29 is the fourth fastest after two heats with the top 16 times set to advance. It’s a case of watch this space with four heats remaining in the 100m breaststroke.

Dan Martin finishes in 13th position in men's road race

Dan Martin has equaled Ireland’s best ever time in the men’s Olympic road race as he finished in 13th position. Nicholas Roche crossed the line in 29th, with Belgium’s Greg Van Avermaet taking gold.

Ireland's Kieran Behan is up imminently in the men's gymnastics

The London-born athlete is due to be start the third set of male gymnasts qualification rounds at 10.30pm Irish time.

The Irish gymnast has secured a score of 12.866 with the event still in progress.

The Irish gymnast’s latest score is 14.133, meaning he is on 26.999 overall.

It’s been a pretty consistent overall performance thus far from Behan.

It looks unlikely to be good enough to earn him a place in the final.

Behan also hobbled off after landing awkwardly during the final part of his routine.

His total is 83.232

Behan has finished 38th overall, with an overall tally of 83.232.
