Bolt to quash Rio injury rumours with London comeback tomorrow

The six-time Olympic champion missed the Jamaican Olympic trials with a hamstring strain.

USAIN BOLT INSISTS he is 100% fit and ready to make history in Rio next month as he prepares to make his comeback from a hamstring injury in London tomorrow.

There were concerns that the legendary sprinter would miss the upcoming Olympic Games in Brazil after he pulled out of the Jamaican Olympic trials this month due to a hamstring strain.

A typically relaxed Bolt stated today that he always knew he would recover in time to compete in his last Olympics, where he will attempt to pull off an unprecedented ‘triple-triple’ by adding another three gold medals to his tally of six.

And the 29-year-old, who will race in the 200m at the Diamond League meeting in London, warned his rivals that he is ready to show that he remains the fastest man on the planet.

He said: “My hamstrings are good, I have no issues right now. The doctor did an extremely good job. The 200 metres is my favourite event, so I’m looking forward to it. I know I’m in good shape, I’m not even worried about that now.

“It’s just about execution and getting it done tomorrow. I’m excited to go there for my first 200m of the season and looking forward to running a fast time.”

Bolt added: “I was never really worried because my coach always finds a way to adjust my program; I was in pretty good shape before I had to pull out of the trials.

“I’m excited to go down there [to Rio]. This is where history is going to be made. I’ll do my best in putting on a show for the entire world to see.

This is the big one, I need to make my mark. I had a slight setback, but the good thing is I started my season off on a good note, I got a few races in.

“It’s not as bad as last season, I’m happy with the progress I’m making.”
