OFFALY BLITZED WATERFORD in the second half to progress to Round 2A of the All-Ireland senior football championship qualifiers.
Anton Sullivan’s late goal capped a brilliant display which saw Offaly outscore their hosts by 1-11 to 0-2 in the second half in Fraher Field.

Offaly raced out of the blocks with early points from Graham Guilfoyle and Joey O’Connor, and they led by 0-5 to 0-0 before Waterford’s first point arrived through Mark Ferncombe in the eighth minute.
Offaly dominated without ever finding the breakthrough needed to kill the game off early and when Joey Veale scored the game’s opening goal on 32 minutes, Waterford were right back in the hunt.
Ferncombe and Podge Hurney added a point apiece to leave the Déise trailing by the minimum, 1-5 to 0-9 at the break.
They were never closer as Offaly stepped up a gear after the restart to seal the county’s first championship win since 2011.
In Ruislip, Cavan were far too good as they romped to a 17-point win over London.
Terry Hyland’s side put their Ulster championship exit behind them in comfortable fashion with goals coming from Gearoid McKiernan and Dara McVeety in the second half.
