IRFU PERFORMANCE DIRECTOR David Nucifora hopes to be able to announce a replacement for Rassie Erasmus at Munster in a matter of weeks.
The former Springbok, who coached the southern province to a Champions Cup semi-final and Pro12 final last season, will return to his native South Africa next year to work as SARU’s director of rugby.
In June, after months of speculation, Munster officially announced that director of rugby Erasmus and defence coach Jacques Nienaber would leave the province. With December pencilled in as the duo’s departure date, the southern province have been left with the tricky task of recruiting a new coach with the season already under way.

“We’re talking closely with someone and we’d be hopeful that if things continue to go well an agreement might be reached,” Nucifora said in an interview with TV3′s Sinead Kissane today.
“We’d be hopeful that in the coming weeks we’ve something we can announce.

Nucifora was speaking to the media after a presentation to the media on a variety of subjects around the game, read more from him on The42 tomorrow morning.
