Nick Blackwell expected to wake from coma 'in next 2-3 days' - report

Doctors said to be “cautiously optimistic” as boxer remains in an induced coma.

INJURED BOXER NICK Blackwell is expected to wake from his induced coma “in the next two to three days,” the BBC report.

Blackwell collapsed and was rushed to hospital following his defeat against Chris Eubank Jr last Saturday night in an incident that has stunned British boxing.

Scans showed that the 25-year-old had some bleeding on his brain, but he did not require any surgery and his family expect him to wake in the next few days.

“I’m told the vital signs are good and doctors are cautiously optimistic,” BBC’s Mike Costello reported this evening.

The boxing world has rallied to support Blackwell and his family, with former world heavyweight champion David Haye pledging to donate 10% of the ticket sales from his next fight.
