Rio, here we come! Nicholas Quinn becomes third Irish swimmer to qualify for Olympics

The 22-year-old won gold in Eindhoven last night.

IRELAND’S NICHOLAS QUINN has qualified for this summer’s Olympic Games after achieving the qualifying time in Eindhoven last night.

The Castlebar native swam an impressive 2:11.24 in the 200m breaststroke, which was half a second under the International Swimming Federation’s Olympic A time.

He will join Fiona Doyle, Shane Ryan and diver Oliver Dingley in Rio after claiming gold at the 2016 Eindhoven Swim Cup on Sunday evening.

The 22-year-old, who trains at the University of Edinburgh, also achieved a personal best and broke the previous meet record.
