Watch: Neymar was just a whisker away from finishing Messi's two-touch penalty

Brazil striker has since claimed that he was meant to finish off the move but Suarez got there first.

WHEN LIONEL MESSI nudged his penalty into the path of Luis Suarez, allowing the Uruguayan to complete his hat-trick against Celta Vigo, the football world was taken aback.

The majority gasped in awe, with some others disenchanted with what they deemed to be unsportsmanlike behaviour in a 6-1 victory.

But a fan’s video has revealed that Brazil striker Neymar was just a fraction of a second behind Suarez when his team-mate buried it in the corner.

And Neymar has since insisted that Messi’s pass had been intended for him.

“It was for me, we had practiced it in training!” Neymar quipeed afterwards.

“Leo and myself had practised but Luis was closer and he scored it.

“Our friendship is the most important thing. It doesn’t matter who scores the goals just that we win the games.”
