Longford Town snap up Neale Fenn as their new manager

Fenn targets Premier Division return as he takes over at City Calling Stadium.

NEALE FENN IS the new Longford Town manager, the Midlands club confirmed on Tuesday evening.

Fenn, who was with Leyton Orient as assistant manager until the end of the English season, will take charge ahead of Saturday’s First Division clash against Cabinteely.

He immediately set his sights on a return to the League of Ireland’s top flight.

“I am excited about the club’s ambitions and plans for the future,” he said.

“This club should be in the League Of Ireland Premier Division and it is my aim as manager to get us there.”

The 40-year-old, who represented Ireland at U21 and B international level, started his career at Tottenham Hotspur before moving to Peterborough United.

But he is perhaps best known among League of Ireland fans for his time with Cork City as well as stints with Waterford United, Bohemians, Dundalk and Shamrock Rovers before retiring in 2010.

He previously had a spell as Drogheda United’s assistant manager.
