Munster women edge out Connacht in women's interprovincials

Connacht finished strong but it wasn’t enough in the end.

MUNSTER NARROWLY DEFEATED Connacht in the first of today’s inter-provincial fixtures.

First half tries from Eimear Considine and Deirbhile Nic a Bhaird steered the southern province into a 12-3 lead at the break and despite a resurgence from Connacht in the second period, they had enough in reserve to secure the victory at Irish Independent Park.

A late Connacht try on 72 minutes pushed Munster to the end of the tie, but it came too late. Having already beaten Ulster last weekend, Munster can now look forward to a final game against Leinster next Saturday in Donnybrook.

Leinster face Ulster later this evening at 6pm.
