Munster cruise to 20-point win in Italy to secure Pro12 home semi-final

Darren Sweetnam bagged a brace of tries, while Simon Zebo, Alex Wootton and Jack O’Donoghue also touched down.

MUNSTER SECURED A home semi-final in the Guinness Pro12 with a convincing 34-14 win over Treviso in Italy.

Munster’s 20-point victory guaranteed them a Thomond Park outing on 20 May.

Darren Sweetnam bagged a brace of tries, one in either half, while Simon Zebo, Alex Wootton and Jack O’Donoghue also touched down for the visitors.

Munster controlled the opening half and led by 15-0 at the interval.

An excellent Zebo tackle denied Luca Sperandio a certain try after the break, before David Odiete crossed the line to score Treviso’s first try of the game.

Munster took control of the game in the third quarter, with Wootton and Sweetnam adding tries, before the Italian outfit score a consolation effort through Jean-Francois Montauriol.

On the down side, Dave O’Callaghan and Ronan O’Mahony left the field in the first half with serious looking leg injuries, while Donnacha Ryan departed for a HIA early on in the second half.
