Mourinho tells friends he will join Man United in the summer - reports

Louis van Gaal is coming under increasing pressure owing to an underwhelming season at Old Trafford.

JOSE MOURINHO HAS privately confirmed he will take over as Man United manager in the summer, according to reports.

Mourinho has been heavily linked with the job since being sacked by Chelsea last December, with a series of disappointing results and an unattractive style of football turning many supporters against current manager Louis van Gaal.

And now, a number of British media outlets claim that Mourinho has told “associates” that he will take charge at Old Trafford in the summer.

Influential Spanish journalist Guillem Balague recently reported that Mourinho and Man United were in talks, though Van Gaal has recently dismissed rumours linking the Portuguese coach with the club.

However, despite Van Gaal spending in the region of £250 million since joining, the club are in danger of missing out on a top-four spot this season, prompting further questions marks over his future.

Mourinho’s Premier League return would mean he could renew his notoriously bitter rivalry with Pep Guardiola from their time managing in Spain, with the ex-Barcelona coach set to take charge of Man City in the summer.
