AN MMA EVENT scheduled to take place in Dublin tonight has been cancelled, it has been confirmed, with organisers citing “insurance and legal purposes” as the reason for its postponement.
‘WCFC Road to Dublin’ had been due to take place at the Wright Venue in Swords this evening, but a spokesperson for the venue confirmed to The42 that it been cancelled at the last minute.
Meanwhile, a note on the event’s official Facebook page suggested insurance issues were the primary reason for the event’s cancellation.

“The WCFC Organisers would like to apologise for postponing this evenings (sic) event,” the statement read.
“The adequate public liability insurance was not provided and therefore The Wright Venue, for insurance & legal purposes could not allow this event to go ahead.
The health & safety of the participants and all patrons is of paramount concern to all involved.
“The Wright Venue did everything in its power to facilitate the event going ahead.”
The statement added that tickets are still valid for the rescheduled event on 20 May.
The event’s promoters have yet to respond to The42’s attempts to contact them.
