Mike Brown ruled out of 6 Nations showdown with Ireland after failing to recover from concussion

Alex Goode is set to start at full-back in his place.

ENGLAND FULL-BACK Mike Brown will not feature in Sunday’s Six Nations clash with Ireland following a setback in his recovery from concussion.

The 29-year-old felt a recurrence of his symptoms on Friday after being knocked unconscious in the 47-17 victory over Italy and having completed a weekend of rest restarted the return to play protocols.

The earliest the Harlequins star is be able to resume contact training is tomorrow, the day head coach Stuart Lancaster announces his starting line-up for Sunday’s showdown between the Championship’s only remaining unbeaten teams in Dublin.

It has been confirmed today that Brown is out of contention and Alex Goode is likely to replace him.
