“Michael Lyster has been taken ill and will not be presenting on RTÉ2 this weekend.
“Michael is receiving treatment, and his family have requested privacy. There will be no further comment at this time.”
It’s unclear whether the illness is related to the heart-failure Lyster suffered in 2012.
Speaking to The Irish Mirror in 2014 about the health scare, Lyster said: “I began to feel sick but didn’t know what was wrong with me and kept going. I was actually making things worse.”
“Everyone thinks they are indestructible but then you realise you are not and that health can so easily be taken away from you.”
In Lyster’s absence, Joanne Cantwell took over presenting duties for this afternoon’s Saturday Game Live between Dublin and Galway in Tullamore.
