MICHAEL CONLAN’S FIFTH professional fight will take place on 9 December in the same venue as his debut: The Theater at New York’s Madison Square Garden.
The downstairs venue at ‘The World’s Most Famous Arena’ played host to Conlan’s professional bow on Saint Patrick’s Day of this year, when the former Olympian from the Falls Road packed it to the rafters before stopping the unheralded Tim Ibarra in three rounds to a cacophony of noise.

He’s since fought twice, in Chicago as a headliner, and in Brisbane on the undercard of Jeff Horn’s shock world title victory over Manny Pacquiao. His fourth fight takes place in a fortnight’s time in Tucson, Arizona, when he throws down with fellow three-fight undefeated professional Kenny Guzman.
For fight number five, the 25-year-old will head back to where it all began earlier this year. As recently indicated to The42 by Top Rank CEO Bob Arum, Conlan will fight on the undercard of Vasyl Lomachenko’s highly anticipated grudge match with Guillermo Rigondeaux, which is set to be finalised in the coming weeks.

As was the case for Conlan’s fight in Brisbane and his upcoming encounter with Guzman, his fifth contest will feature on the ESPN’s televised broadcast in the States.
His next destination will likely be Boston in early spring, although Arum has also suggested a homecoming in either Belfast or Dublin is on the cards during the first half of 2018.
