McGregor to carry the tricolour for Michael Conlan's professional debut

The Belfast boxer kicks off his pro career in Madison Square Garden on St Patrick’s Day.

LAST MONTH SAW Conor McGregor make UFC history at Madison Square Garden, and it looks like he’s going to add to further history at the same venue on St. Patrick’s Day.

Michael Conlan is set to make his professional debut at the New York venue next March, and last night he announced that McGregor will carry the tricolour alongside the Olympic medalist as he enters the ring.

Conlan tweeted a picture last night of himself and the UFC champion, along with his brother Jamie, with the caption “Mr @TheNotoriousMMA carring out the Tri Colour for my debut fight on St Paddys Day NY MSG!!!”

He also made a public announcement as he spoke at an event involving them both.

The 25-year-old Belfast native signed his first professional deal with American giants Top Rank in September. Conlan’s opponent is yet to be announced.
