A scrum-half was mic'd up for a game in Australia, and he would not shut up

Nigel Owens wouldn’t approve!

THE TIMING REALLY couldn’t be more perfect, given Nigel Owens’ comments about football players earlier today.

The folks of NRC Extra Time in Australia have been treating us to a few mic’d up rugby players in recent months, and they’ve been a genuinely insightful new gimmick.

Christian Leali’ifano showed us the chatter needed to organise a defence, and recently Karmichael Hunt donned the microphone while playing for Brisbane City.

Brisbane City were also involved this time around, but the man on the microphone this time was Josh Holmes of the North Harbour Rays.

While there’s a myth that rugby players never talk back to referees, anyone who’s played the game at any level can tell you about the reputation scrum-halves are constantly wearing the ref’s ear off, and Holmes was no different.

On top of that, there’s also the added bonus of him taking a breather after getting “a whack on the nuts”.
