Replay likely for Christy Ring Cup final after final score controversy

Meath may have got the cup but it’s likely they’ll have to face Antrim again.

GAA CHIEFS ARE likely to schedule a replay for the Christy Ring Cup final between Meath and Antrim after the controversy over the final score in yesterday’s clash at Croke Park.

The final score was announced as a 2-18 to 1-20 victory in favour of Meath but members of the media and Antrim backroom team that were present all believed the game had ended in a 2-17 to 1-20 draw.

The42 understands that the referee John O’Brien’s report to the CCCC of the GAA is set to indicate that a mistake was made in the scoreline and that it did in fact finish in a draw.

Thus a replay will be required for the clash despite Meath lifting the trophy after the game.

The CCCC is due to meet on Tuesday when the decision is likely to be confirmed.
