'See you on July 11th' - Conor McGregor takes to Twitter to reassure fans

His title fight against Jose Aldo is in doubt.

HIS WORLD TITLE bout against UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo looks unlikely to go ahead on 11 July, but a tweet from Conor McGregor this morning seems to suggest that the Irish mixed martial arts star will be fighting anyway.

McGregor is scheduled to face Aldo in the main event at UFC 189 in Las Vegas in just over a fortnight’s time. However, the Brazilian suffered a rib injury in training yesterday which could see the fight scrapped.

If Aldo is forced to withdraw, one alternative option for the UFC would be to bring in a replacement opponent for McGregor, which is likely to be the most ideal outcome for the thousands of Irish fans who have already booked flights and accommodation.

The picture should become clearer this evening when a medical update on Jose Aldo is expected, but McGregor has taken to Twitter in the meantime, telling us that it’s “business as usual” from his point of view.

‘Heartbroken’ Aldo still wants to fight but could be ruled out until October
