McGregor brushes Siver aside to set up a UFC title bout with Jose Aldo

A comprehensive win for the Irish star via second-round TKO.

CONOR McGREGOR HAS been victorious in tonightโ€™s main event at UFC Boston.

The 26-year-old Dubliner stopped German opponent Dennis Siver via TKO in the second round of their headline bout at the TD Garden.

Afterwards, McGregor jumped out of the octagon and made a beeline for defending UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo, who he will face in his next bout. The pair were kept apart by security, but a fired-up McGregor clearly had a message for the Brazilian.

When asked what he said to Aldo by the UFCโ€™s Joe Rogan, McGregor replied: โ€œTell him to go back and spit-shine that belt and have it ready for me to take it.โ€

In an exciting first stanza, McGregor continuously landed straight lefts, high kicks and a devastating knee, which opened up a cut around Siverโ€™s left eye.

McGregor continued with the onslaught but Siver was brave, if not entirely effective, in responding. Siver attempted takedowns twice towards the end of the round but neither troubled McGregor.

When the second round began, McGregor continued his relentless attack. After dropping his opponent with a straight left, McGregor pounced, moved into full mount and unloaded, before the fight was stopped at the 1:54 mark.

McGregor had predicted a victory inside two minutes of round one, but Siver proved to be a durable opponent who took a lot of punishment before the fight was eventually brought to an end.

โ€œI said two minutes, I meant two rounds,โ€ McGregor said. โ€œI felt comfortable throughout, I donโ€™t think any of these guys pose a threat.โ€

There were also victories earlier in the evening for McGregorโ€™s SBG team-mates Cathal Pendred and Paddy Holohan, but Antrimโ€™s Norman Parke finished on the wrong side of a split decision.

Pendred was awarded a controversial decision win against Sean Spencer, Holohan eased to victory over Shane Howell on the judgesโ€™ scorecards, but Parke was edged out after going the distance with Gleison Tibau.

Kyle callen mcfadden, you could have some craic in dressing room with that one. Personally Iโ€™d be slow to sign a man with the double barrel name
