Faber, 36, and the interim UFC featherweight champion are currently in Las Vegas filming the 22nd season of The Ultimate Fighter, in which they’ll coach opposing US and European lightweight teams respectively.
“It’s all friendly stuff, to be honest,” McGregor said. “Urijah is harmless. He’s a harmless little man. He amuses me. He’s like an annoying little brother, only he’s close to 50 years of age. I’ve been having fun on the show.”
McGregor admitted that he was initially reluctant to take on the coaching role as his win over Chad Mendes on 11 July, as well as the protracted build-up to the event, had taken its toll. However, the Dubliner is now enjoying the experience.
He said: “At first I was a little bit off with the show. I didn’t want to do it. I had put in a lot of work in the build-up to the fight and the fight itself, and then to go straight into taping The Ultimate Fighter, I was a little bit off with it.
“But once I got there and I met the people, I realised it’s an opportunity of a lifetime. I want to embrace it and put my coaches on; show my approach to the game, show how my coaches handle training camp and fight preparation. It’s an amazing experience and I’m really enjoying it.”
