AIDEN McGEADY PICKED up the man-of-the-match award as Preston kept their promotion hopes alive last night with a 5-0 home win against Bristol City.

The Ireland winger, who was the Championship’s player of the month for February, took his goals tally for the season to seven after scoring from the penalty spot to put his side 2-0 up at Deepdale.
On loan at Preston from Everton, McGeady was celebrating his 31st birthday yesterday as Preston stretched their undefeated run to five games.
With six games remaining, Simon Grayson’s side remain in eighth place in the Championship, five points outside the play-off places, after sixth-placed Sheffield Wednesday were also victorious last night against Rotherham United.
McGeady was replaced in the 71st minute last night by Ireland team-mate Daryl Horgan. Greg Cunningham also started for Preston, while Alan Browne and Andy Boyle were unused substitutes.
