'I'm not what I used to be' - Mayweather claims McGregor has the edge

Floyd Mayweather is coming out of retirement at the age of 40 to fight the Dubliner on 26 August.

AMERICAN VETERAN FLOYD Mayweather Jr believes UFC champion Conor McGregor has the edge over him on paper as the pair prepare to step into the ring.

Mayweather is coming out of retirement at the age of 40 to fight mixed martial arts star McGregor on 26 August.

McGregor, 29, will step away from the octagon and into the ring against Mayweather, who is 49-0 in his career having not fought since 2015. And Mayweather claims he is not the same fighter he used to be ahead of this monthโ€™s blockbuster showdown.

โ€œHeโ€™s a lot younger. When you look at myself and Conor McGregor on paper, heโ€™s taller, has a longer reach, heโ€™s a bigger man from top to bottom. Heโ€™s a lot younger, so youth is on his side,โ€ Mayweather told ESPN.

โ€œAnd Iโ€™ve been off a couple of years. And Iโ€™m in my 40s. So, if you look at everything on paper, it leans toward Conor McGregor.โ€

Mayweather added: โ€œIโ€™m older. Iโ€™m not the same fighter I was two years ago. Iโ€™m not the same fighter I was five years ago. I lost a step.

โ€œA fighter like Andre Berto isnโ€™t even supposed to go the distance with Floyd Mayweather, but remember, I was 38. Itโ€™s obvious Iโ€™m slipping a little bit to even let a fighter like that go the distance with me.

โ€œIโ€™m not what I used to be. I used to have a 90 percent knockout ratio. Itโ€™s obvious I slipped somewhere. Something has taken a toll on my career.โ€

He continued: โ€œI didnโ€™t say I couldnโ€™t fight. I just said Iโ€™m not the same Floyd Mayweather I once was.โ€

Itโ€™s hardly a salary, besides paying for better players/managers has a always been and always will be in all amateur sports in Ireland.
