The Mayo and Sligo footballers are heading to Roscommon for the Connacht final

Dr Hyde Park will host the decider on 19 July.

DR HYDE PARK has been chosen as the venue for next month’s Connacht senior and minor football finals.

The Connacht GAA Council made the announcement in an official statement this evening.

The game will see Mayo bidding to complete five-in-a-row in the province against Sligo at the Roscommon venue on 19 July at 4pm.

The stadium capacity for the game will be 20,000 following an event management plan being put in place by the Connacht Council.

But not everyone seems happy.

Pearse Stadium in Galway and Elverys MacHale Park in Castlebar had been speculated as potential venues but Dr Hyde Park has got the nod.

The provincial body considered the follow areas when choosing the venue:

  • Geographical location of counties
  • Expected attendance
  • Capacities of grounds in the province

The curtain-raiser will be the minor final at 2pm.
