Both managers had indicated their preference for a Bank Holiday Monday replay fixture.
“Monday here, that’s what we want,” stated Roscommon boss Kevin McStay, speaking before the replay had been confirmed.
“Sure it can’t be anywhere else. I know people are dreaming up Salthill or some place for the craic of it.
“We have no helicopters or airport in Roscommon to fly into Galway. It has to be here. This is where the All-Ireland quarter-finals are held. ”
“We’ve played an All-Ireland quarter-final on a Bank Holiday before and happy to again,” said Mayo boss Stephen Rochford.
