Mayo get the job done against Kilkenny to set up All-Ireland final meeting with Kerry

Victory for the Connacht side at O’Connor Park today.

Mayo 1-12
Kilkenny 0-8

MAYO BOOKED A place in the All-Ireland junior football final against Kerry by overcoming Kilkenny this afternoon at O’Connor Park in Tullamore.

A first-half goal from Damien McGing was the crucial score in helping Mayo ultimately triumph by seven points.

Mayo went ahead 1-5 to 0-0 early on with McGing finding the net after the Connacht champions had struck the first five points of the game without reply.

At the interval Mayo were 1-6 to 0-2 clear but Kilkenny struck the first three points of the second-half to cut the deficit to four.

But that was a close as they got with Mayo upping the ante once more as McGing finished with 1-3 while Gavin Conway and Ronan Malee also impressed as they bagged 0-4 apiece.

Mayo now advance to the decider with Kerry on the weekend of 8-9 August with the venue to be confirmed.
