Connacht flier Healy grounded with hip trouble

The mission beyond Moscow is aborted for the winger as well as John Cooney and Tom McCartney.

CONNACHT WILL FLY out to Krasnoyarsk without winger Matt Healy, hooker Tom McCartney and scrum-half John Cooney tomorrow, while Nathan White’s concussion is also likely to keep the prop grounded.

White will be undergoing Return To Play protocols for the days to come and, given the western province will fly from Shannon tomorrow evening, he is unlikely to be involved against Enisei STM in the Siberian city.

McCartney will miss around six weeks after tearing a hamstring in the act of scoring Connacht’s second try against Treviso, while Cooney is set to consult with a surgeon after a slight shoulder dislocation.

There was joint trouble for Healy too as the winger will be sidelined this week after suffering a ‘joint sprain’ in his hip.

Meanwhile, second row Quinn Roux underwent surgery on a ‘nasal fracture’ picked up against Edinburgh and the three-week recovery timeframe rules him out of the opening Challenge Cup fixtures as well as the 28 November visit to Thomond Park.
