LAST NIGHT’S SKY Bet Championship games threw up an Irish goalscorer as Wolves clinched an injury-time 2-1 victory over Bristol City.
Dublin-born full-back Matt Doherty proved instrumental for Kenny Jackett’s side — setting up Nathan Byrne for their opener with a mazy run before getting his head onto Jeremy Helan’s free-kick in the 94th minute.
“There’s no better way to win a game than in the last minute whether it’s you personally or as a team,” Doherty said on Wolves’ YouTube channel.
Former Ireland U21 international and Bohemians youth, who joined Wolves in 2010, has been a regular in the team this term with 28 appearances in all competitions.
The 24-year-old enjoys the attacking side of the game but says he has been working hard to improve his defending.
“I love going forward but the manager and my dad and the coaching staff had said to be a defender first because I’m not naturally always thinking defensively,” he added.
I’ve just knuckled down and worked hard defensively in training and in games it’s about not getting carried away by trying to get forward every time.
“It’s freed me up when I’ve done my job defensively to break forward and I’ve been able to do some pretty good things in the last few weeks.”

Sack Emery – an atrocious manager who is way out of his league with PSG. Terrible game management – happy to settle for a draw and takes off Cavani!!!! in place of Meunier who was at fault for the winning Real Madrid goals. He also left form player Di Maria on the bench lol.
Why he wasn’t sacked after throwing away a 3 goal advantage against Barcelona last year just boggles the mind.
But can he do it in the big games? Oh wait!! Great game for the neutrals 3 goal really changes the next leg
It’s nuts to think zidane consistently plays benzema, he offered nothing again tonight. Bale and asensio made huge difference when they came on, brought the one thing Madrid were lacking…. pace
@Tony Yeboah TP: Maybe that was the plan all along, bring em on when the opposition got tired.
Ronaldo comes good again to win it and pick up the Balon D’Or, Whats the chances!!
G’wan Ronaldo boi. What a player!
Its not over yet but Real stuck at it and showed how they can dig out results .
Ronaldo needs to calm down his celebrations you’d think he just scored a bicycle kick in the final
@Ruairi Doyle: goals 100 and 101 for Real Madrid in CL are worth celebrating in style
Emery again proving he is not an elite level manager. Some terrible in game management last night, can’t understand how you leave lo celso on their field that long, apart from a few passes he was having a nightmare, also hauling off cavani was a bad move. I hope for cavani sake he leaves in the summer, he will never gets credit he deserves at psg now and takes unfair critisicm,.
I’m just speaking in general
