Leinster expect Marty Moore back playing four weeks after foot surgery

It had been feared that the international tighthead would miss two months.

LEINSTER SAY TIGHTHEAD prop Marty Moore will be back in action in four weeks after going under the knife on a foot injury on Friday.

The 24-year-old was a mainstay of Joe Schmidt’s matchday squad through the past two Six Nations campaign. However, after recovering from a shoulder problem this summer, the stress fracture in his foot took him out of contention for the World Cup.

The timeframe for Moore’s recovery may even give him a chance to be involved in the World Cup if Schmidt needs a tighthead to come in after the meeting with Italy.

More pertinent to Moore’s recovery goals will be Leinster’s fixtures. Four weeks on the sideline will see him miss the home matches against Cardiff and Dragons, but he should return in plenty of time for the trip to Scarlets on 16 October.

While Gordon D’Arcy (shoulder) has been ruled out of Saturday’s clash with Cardiff, Leinster also say that Mick Kearney (foot) and Rhys Ruddock (arm) are unlikely to feature but are ‘nearing a return.’ That return will most likely come in the visit of the Dragons to Dublin on 3 October.

33-year-old Isa Nacewa took a full part in training today missing yesterday’s session while Kevin McLaughlin and Tom Denton are following concussion return to play protocols.

JJ Hanrahan will be joined by a South African legend at Northampton
