THERE WAS CONCERN for Robbie Brady tonight, after he lost consciousness following a clash of heads with Georgia’s Solomon Kvirkvelia.
With the concussion protocol set at six days, Brady now may miss Ireland’s game with Moldova on Sunday, with the Norwich player set for a scan in the morning.
It appears the injury is not as bad as some initially feared, however. An FAI spokesperson confirmed that Brady was “sitting up” and “talking” in the medical room afterwards.
O’Neill added: “He was out cold for a while, he’s come back round again and the doctors and physios are pretty pleased with him since he was carried off.

“He went past me, I saw him then at that time, but I haven’t had a chance to see him since and all I would be getting is the update from them.
“But he’s obviously gone off at this minute (to hospital) and naturally I am hoping the lad will be fine. He’s as brave as a lion, great courage obviously and a fine player, and he started too get into it in the second half himself.”
Robbie Brady is conscious in the dressing room. The medical team are taking every precaution possible. Thank you for your messages. #COYBIG
O’Neill added that he was hopeful that Shane Long would be okay for Sunday’s game, after he left the field injured in the dying moments of tonight’s match, while Jeff Hendrick is certainly out, having picked up a second yellow card in two qualifying games that means the Burnley man is suspended for the Moldova trip.
Of the incident that led to Hendrick’s booking tonight, the 64-year-old coach added: “It looked innocuous enough, I must admit. I might be wrong, maybe, on second view, I don’t know, but it looked pretty harsh at the time.”
Meanwhile, the FAI and the Irish manager both played down rumours that Harry Arter is considering switching his international allegiance to England.
“I had no idea,” O’Neill said. “He hasn’t played a competitive game for us and the choice is entirely with the player. It’s news to me, so I don’t know.”
