Martin O'Neill: facing in crucial period. Dan Sheridan/INPHO

Martin O'Neill has named his 27-man squad for the England and Scotland ties

Kevin Doyle has been left out.

KEVIN DOYLE IS the biggest name to be cut from Martin O’Neill’s squad ahead of the double header of England and Scotland in Dublin.

The Boys in Green will play a much-anticipated friendly with the Auld Enemy on 7 June before a crunch Euro 2016 qualifier against Gordon Strachan’s side.

O’Neill named an extended squad earlier this month but tonight has announced his 27-man selection.

Doyle — who recently made the move to the MLS with the Colorado Rapids — has been omitted. Robbie Keane will be given time to prove his fitness while Shane Long, Jon Walters, in-form Daryl Murphy and one-cap David McGoldrick make up the forward options.

Simon Cox, Adam Rooney, Anthony Pilkington and Alan Judge have also been left out. The squad will assemble in Dublin on Monday.

Squad:

David Forde
Shay Given
Keiren Westwood
Darren Randolph
Richard Keogh
