A superb Mark Timlin free-kick helped Pat's earn a hard-fought win tonight

Meanwhile, in a battle between second and third, Cork and Derry drew 0-0.

A MARK TIMLIN effort was the difference, as St Pat’s earned a 1-0 victory over Longford at the City Calling Stadium tonight.

With just under 20 minutes to go, Timlin — who been introduced as a second-half substitute shortly before then — curled home the winner.

Liam Buckley’s side move up to sixth as a result of tonight’s win having now gone four matches unbeaten, while Longford remain bottom on 10 points.

Meanwhile, in a battle between second and third, Cork and Derry drew 0-0 at the Brandywell.

It was a frustrating match for the visitors, as Sean Maguire, Garry Buckley and Karl Sheppard all missed decent chances late on, while Rory Patterson had previously twice went close for the hosts.
