IRELAND’S MARK O’DONOVAN and Shane O’Driscoll are the European Rowing Championship gold medallists after scorching to victory in Racice this morning.
The Cork duo produced a classy and commanding performance in the men’s lightweight pairs final and blew the rest of the field away to add the European crown to their gold from the World Rowing Cup earlier this month.
O’Donovan and O’Driscoll came blazing out of the blocks and established an early lead, maintaining their advantage throughout to cross the line ahead of Russia and Italy in a time of 6:32.34.
