Ulster's new signing Marcell Coetzee ruled out for 9 months with serious knee injury

The Sharks have confirmed the news this morning.

SOUTH AFRICAN FLANKER Marcell Coetzee has been ruled out for nine months with an ACL injury he sustained over the weekend.

The 24-year-old, who is joining Ulster next season, suffered the knee injury and had to be stretchered off during the Sharks’ 24-9 defeat to the Lions on Saturday.

Coetzee will undergo an operation this week and faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

The Springbok backrow forward agreed a three-year deal with Ulster in February and was set to move to Belfast at the end of the current Super Rugby season.

However, he may not feature for the province until December at the earliest.
