MANCHESTER UNITED STILL don’t know whether it will be Champions League or Europa League football next season, but at least they know what they’ll be wearing on their travels.

United unveiled their new away kit for next season earlier today. To the untrained eye, it’s blue with red trim — a nice jersey, not massively different from the blue strips they have worn in the past.

But in the words of those who get paid to carefully craft a jersey press release:

The new shirt has a base colour of collegiate blue, a distinct dark blue mélange fabric, with red accents of the adidas performance logo, three stripes on the shoulders and a red Manchester United crest. There is also a ‘Red Devils’ detail visible on the inside neck.

“Collegiate blue.”

“Mélange fabric.”

“Red accents.”

United will wear the jersey for the first time when they take on Borussia Dortmund in Shanghai on 22 July.
