Blind and Romero have blushes spared after nearly producing two own-goals

Fortunately for the Man United defender, a Middlesbrough player was ruled offside.

MANCHESTER UNITED AND Middlesbrough went to penalties tonight after both teams failed to score in 120 minutes.

Dutch defender Daley Blind, back in the team alongside compatriot Memphis Depay, did have the ball in his own net just before the half hour mark — blasting in after a strike had come back out off the post.

However, his blushes were spared as the linesman’s flag went up.

Daley Blind own goal

Minutes later, back-up goalkeeper Sergio Romero very nearly allowed the ball to roll in after struggling to control a back-pass from Blind.
