ASTON VILLA CAPTAIN Fabian Delph has scotched rumours linking him with an imminent move to Manchester City, confirming he will be not be leaving during the transfer window.
A statement from Delph on Villa’s official website read:
“I’m aware there has been intense media speculation surrounding my future in the last 24 hours and I want to set the record straight.”
“I’m not leaving. I’m staying at the football club and I can’t wait for the start of the season and captaining this great football club.”

Delph signed a new four-and-a-half year contract with Villa back in January but many felt that was merely a goodwill gesture.
His previous deal had been due to expire this summer so a new arrangement would ensure the club would get a substantial fee when he moved elsewhere, instead of losing him for nothing.
At the time, Delph said the following:
‘I’m proving that there still is loyalty in football. I’ve decided to stay here and I’ll give nothing less than 100 per cent every game.
I am a loyal person and committing my future will hopefully show everybody what type of guy I am.”
“I feel like this is me – I love the club, I love being here and I want to put 100 per cent into everything I do here. This is my club and I want to be here. That’s why I am committing my future.”
