Hat-trick hero Sterling leads 5-star City to success

Bournemouth had no answer for the former Liverpool attacker.

RAHEEM STERLING SCORED a first-half hat-trick as Manchester City made light work of Premier League new boys Bournemouth this afternoon.

The former Liverpool man opened the scoring after just seven minutes with Wilfried Bony doubling his side’s lead four minutes later.

Eddie Howe’s men showed a little more fight and grabbed one back in the 22nd minute through Glenn Murray but Sterling had his second before the half-hour mark.

The 20-year old completed his hat-trick just before the break with Bony finding the net for a second time in the game’s final minute to complete the rout.

Elsewhere, Jamie Vardy came to Leicester’s rescue once more when he helped his side come from 2-0 down to draw with Southampton.

The Saints were 2-0 up at the break through goals from José Fonte and Virgil van Dijk before Vardy — who now has nine goals this season — found the net twice in the second half, his equaliser coming one minute into injury time.

Late goals also helped West Ham move into third spot in the Premier League as Carl Jenkinson, Manuel Lanzini and Dimitri Payet cancelled out Yohan Cabaye’s penalty in a 3-1 win over Crystal Palace.

A Saido Berahino goal in the 54th minute was enough to give West Brom all three points against Sunderland who remain second-from-bottom.

He’d want to be pulling a few more hat-tricks out of the bag before he justifies his price tag… His finishing against Juventus proves he needs to improve….
