The first-ever player to score in the Champions League during his time with Club Brugge, Everton bought Amokachi for £3 million (€3.9 million) from the Belgian club, after he caught then-manager Mike Walker’s eye during the 1994 World Cup.

Amokachi went on to score 10 goals in 43 appearances for the Toffees, helping them win the FA Cup in 1995, though he failed to earn regular place up front ahead of first-choice strike duo Paul Rideout and Duncan Ferguson during the following season.

Two years after joining, Amokachi left to sign for Besiktas, going on to have short stints at Colorado Rapids and Nasarawa United, before retiring in the mid-2000s.

Since retirement, the 43-year-old has gone into coaching, and he was Nigeria interim boss for a spell last year.
