Gerard O’Kelly-Lynch, Kevin Gilmartin and Matthew Davey all found the net during an inspired 13-minute spell from the Yeats County.
But Louth rallied after the break and Seaghan Connelly’s goal cut the gap to just three points with nine minutes remaining.
O’Kelly-Lynch’s second goal gave Sligo some breathing space heading into the final stages but Louth’s best was yet to come as a late goal blitz settled this entertaining contest.
