Three and easy! Stephen Kenny's untouchable Dundalk close in on third straight league title

The Lilywhites will be crowned champions if they beat Bohs next weekend.

Longford 0
Dundalk 3

DUNDALK TOOK A huge step towards a third successive SSE Airtricity League title tonight as Stephen Kenny’s side eased past Longford.

This result, coupled with Cork’s defeat to St Pat’s at Richmond Park, means Dundalk’s lead at the summit has been extended to seven points with just three games left.

Dane Massey’s early goal set the visitors on their way at the City Calling Stadium before the three points were sealed just before the break as David McMillan fired in his 15th goal of the campaign.

It was three shortly after the interval as the in-form Daryl Horgan continued his prolific streak as bottom-placed Longford were dismissed with minimal fuss. Their relegation to the First Division has been confirmed.

The Lilywhites are now on the verge of lifting the League of Ireland title for the 12th time with victory over Bohemians at Oriel Park on Sunday 23 October.
