LIVERPOOL MANAGER BRENDAN Rodgers has been a busy man since the Premier League season ended.

Having captured James Milner from Manchester City last week, Liverpool have this morning announced a deal for Danny Ings. Subject to a medical, the striker will join the Anfield club when his Burnley contract expires on 1 July.

Ings has scored four goals in nine appearances for the England U21s and will also represent his country at the U21 European Championships later this month.

The 22-year-old also hit 11 goals in 35 Premier League appearances for Burnley last season, which was his first in the top flight.

Burnley confirmed in a statement that they had rejected an offer from Liverpool for the player — who was free to discuss a move to Anfield with his contract running out — but the Clarets say they “continue to have dialogue with [Liverpool] in order to reach a resolution over the fee”.

If a fee for Ings cannot be agreed between the clubs, it will instead be decided by a tribunal.
