Hello, and welcome to our Transfer Deadline Day liveblog. We’ll be bringing you up-to-date coverage of every deal taking place all the way up until it closes.

Think of us as the Jim White of the internet!

Until you’ve been refusing to consume football news over the past few days in protest at the circus that is the final few days of the transfer window and have held out until now, you’ll know that Gareth Bale was presented by Real Madrid earlier.

So the biggest story of the day so far seems to be Ozil to Arsenal, which looks set to happen.

More details can be found here.

Sky Sports News are reporting that Cardiff are set to sign one of the stars of the last Deadline Day (see below), West Brom outcast Peter Odemwingie.

So quick poll — which of these do you think is/would be the most astute deadline day signing?

Poll Results:

Herrera to United (528)
Ozil to Arsenal (412)
Sakho to Liverpool (190)
McCarthy to Everton (179)
Ireland to Stoke (148)
Other (120)

Not bad, not bad at all…

“If you did see any rude gestures from those fans in the background, we do apologise.”

Can’t beat a bit of SSN on Deadline Day for numerous hilarious reasons.

So here is every transfer that’s been confirmed so far (h/t BBC Sport):

Sky Sports News are reporting that Everton “are still hopeful” that they can secure a deal for James McCarthy, after other reports suggested they had gone cold on the deal.

Piers Morgan is up to his usual trolling tricks…

According to this report, some Real Madrid fans are not happy at all about the club’s apparent plans to sell Mesut Ozil to Arsenal, and hijacked the Gareth Bale presentation as a result.

Looks like Arsenal are jumping the gun a bit…

CONFIRMED: Stephen Ireland has joined Stoke on a season-long loan.

BREAKING: ARSENAL HAVE ACTUALLY SIGNED SOMEONE!

It’s not Ozil though, instead they have bought Palermo goalkeeper Emiliano Viviano on loan, to provide competition for Wojciech Szczesny.

Sky Sports News reporter Peter Stevenson has just angrily shushed some unruly young Liverpool supporters at Anfield.

Cue: a cut back to the studio and an apologetic presenter.

“You have to be here to witness it.” Natalie Sawyer describes the chaos of Transfer Deadline Day in the Sky Sports News studios, when speaking to Matt Cooper on The Last Word.

Sawyer and Jim White will make their long-awaited appearance on SSN at 7pm this evening.

Sky Sports News are reporting that the £42.5million Ozil transfer is set to be announced by Arsenal in the next hour.

Here’s Peter Stevenson losing the rag, as the supporters “overstep the mark”.

Sky Sports News are reporting that Shane Long could be on his way to Hull, with the striker reportedly having left the Ireland team hotel to try to complete the move.

Not exactly the big move that Ireland fans will have been hoping for unfortunately.

Ajax have only gone and produced a tribute video for Christian Eriksen, who recently left them for Tottenham. It’s a nice touch, and well worth a watch too.

JIM WHITE IS HERE!

And he has just informed us that he loves Mondays!

It’s being widely reported that Shane Long has left the Ireland team hotel, suggesting he is set for a move to Hull.

It’s surely disappointing for him, given that he was previously linked with the likes of Lazio and Liverpool.

With West Brom selling Peter Odemwingie and now, it seems, Shane Long to Hull, Everton striker Victor Anichebe is rumoured to be coming in as a replacement.

Sky Sports News are suggesting that Tottenham “will do business tonight,” despite possible deals for both Hulk and Thomas Ince seemingly falling through.

It’s gone rather quiet at the moment, with very few transfers being confirmed.

According to Gazetta dello Sport, Demba Ba has passed his medical at Arsenal.

Meanwhile, SSN have just suggested that Tottenham have suddenly developed an interest in the player.

Could they do to the Gunners what Chelsea did to them with Willian?

Madness, Bill!

“Jamie Redknapp told us that his dad was chasing Niko Kranjcar.”

Never thought I’d hear a Sky Sports News reporter say those words.

The plot thickens…

Latest rumours in the last few minutes include Romelu Lukaku to Everton and Demba Ba to a Champions League club that’s not Arsenal.

Will they happen? A young Dustin Hoffman doesn’t think so.

Sky Sports News have said it is “increasingly unlikely” that Shay Given will move from Villa today.

They’re also starting to play down that Demba-Ba-to-Spurs story.

Patrick McCarry here. Taking over from Mr F so he can refresh himself with a cool, damp face-cloth and re-energise with a potassium-filled banana.

In case you have not heard, over and over again, Mesut Özil is close to signing for Arsenal.

Sky Sports getting confirmation that Marouane Fellaini has officially handed in a transfer request. Moyes could be about to splash some cash. With that in mind, here’s a very funny tweet from @BBCSporf

Shay Given will not be picking splinters at Anfield this season, according to the BBC.

Vinny O’Connor on SSN confirms another woefully kept secret, that Fellaini wants to unstick himself from the Toffees.

Here’s some big news for ya:

The Irish striker must pass a medical before any deal goes through.

PINCH OF SALT UPDATE: Guillem Balague has heard on a local radio station in Madrid that Manchester United have had a £40m bid for Real Madrid’s German midfielder Sami Khedira.

Take from that what you will. Pie in the Spanish sky!

Manchester United have signed tyre sponsorship deals with three different companies this summer but are struggling to do deals for human beings.

Shane Long will only be allowed to leave WBA if Steve Clarke gets in Stephane Sessegnon (from Sunderland) and Victor Anichebe (Everton).

What do you make of this diagonally downward move (I’m influencing you) for Shane Long to Hull?

How about a bit of Juan Mata gossip for you all at 9;05pm? PSG are holding onto midfielder Matieu Bodmer so may be circling the wagons after Chelsea spurned their tentative advances.

OK, with that vanilla update I’ll hand you back to the reliably excellent Paul Fennessy.

According to Sky Sports News, Dave Whelan says James McCarthy to Everton is unlikely to happen.

The Toffees are reportedly unwilling to meet Wigan’s valuation of the player.

Darragh MacAnthony is proving to be an interesting guest on SSN.

He believes Fellaini to United is a done deal, on the basis that the player has handed in a transfer request.

Surely Everton will be forced to up their offer for McCarthy if this happens.

SSN are suggesting that Lukaku is on his way to West Brom to discuss another loan move, while Anichebe and Sessegnon are already there apparently.

Suddenly the Long move makes more sense.

Meanwhile, Dave Whelan has apparently slammed Everton’s offer for James McCarthy, calling it “staggering”.

Here’s what United fans have to look forward to if Herrara does sign:

Meanwhile, SSN have just got off the phone with Mo Farah, who is a big Arsenal fan.

Does Gary know something we don’t?

Meanwhile, Niall Quinn has just quoted The Godfather in his attempts to describe dealing with player agents et al on Transfer Deadline Day (“keep your friends close and your enemies closer”).

There’s still talk of Juan Mata leaving Chelsea, with PSG keen on the Spanish international, according to Matt Spiro in France.

He also claims that Demba Ba to Arsenal has fallen through.

So those reports of Lukaku actually travelling to West Brom via Merseyside were rubbish apparently.

It turns out he’s currently with the Belgium squad.

A come-and-get-me plea from the former Westlife star and one-time Leeds youth team member.

Guillem Balague is reporting that the Ander Herrera to United transfer is off, saying that Fellaini is the only player who’ll join David Moyes’ side this evening.

Apparently, United were either unwilling or unable to meet the €36million buyout clause in time.

Meanwhile, Assou-Ekotto to QPR on loan has been confirmed, as Harry does his customary ‘wheeling and dealing’ on Deadline Day.

There are some seriously disappointed United fans on Twitter at the moment following that Herrara news.

It looks like they’ll have to make do with Fellaini, if even him.

AS are now saying that Ozil’s move to Arsenal is official.

Ozil to Arsenal is effectively confirmed, with the player describing his delight at the move.

That’s a big coup for Arsenal and surely it’ll now appease their angry fans to an extent.

Stephane Sessegnon has signed officially signed for West Brom for what is reportedly a world record fee.

Someone has been tampering with Ed Woodward’s Wikipedia page, it seems.

Gareth Barry has arrived at Everton‘s training ground.

Consequently, a deal for James McCarthy is looking less likely.

BREAKING: It’s being reported that Shane Long has been spotted at the Hull training ground.

Jim White on Harry Redknapp’s absence: ”It’s like having a house party and the main guest doesn’t show up.”

Arsene Wenger on Ozil (via arsenal.com)

“We are extremely pleased to have signed Mesut Ozil. He is a great player, with proven quality at both club and international level. We have watched and admired him for some time as he has all the attributes I look for in an Arsenal player.

“He [Ozil] is a great player, with proven quality at both club and international level. We have watched and admired him for some time as he has all the attributes I look for in an Arsenal player.”

BIG NEWS! Everton have reportedly matched Wigan’s valuation of James McCarthy at last!

Perhaps this will pave the way for Fellaini to United now.

Just three minutes left before the window closes and it’s been announced that Wigan have accepted a £13million bid for James McCarthy.

There’s only one word for it: madness!

It’s 11 o’clock, so the window has closed.

Will James McCarthy get the move he desires in time? Only time will tell.

James McCarthy is at Everton’s training ground and arrived there at 10.55pm according to SSN.

Here’s a further updated list of every transfer that’s been confirmed so far.

It’s being reported that Fellaini has signed for United.

Meanwhile, it’s been confirmed that Steve Clarke has pulled the plug on Shane Long’s move to Hull, as the club aren’t sure that moves for Lukaku and Anichebe will go through!

Yuss! Harry Redknapp’s window has finally been rolled down.

The SSN reporter tells him they were “a bit offended” that he hadn’t already “come out to say hello”.

This Ozil button is quite possibly the best thing we’ve come across today.

It’s now being reported that the Coentrão to United loan deal still isn’t totally secured as of yet.

It’s been a mixed night for Irish internationals…

Right, that’s all from me. Thanks for reading and commenting.

I’m off to take a much-needed lie down.
