We have kick-off!

Some interesting selections out there. Pepe Reina returns in goal for Liverpool at Anfield against Wigan, while Jose Enrique – back in form with an excellent display against Chelsea last week – plays in midfield ahead of Nuri Sahin.

Daniel Sturridge has pleaded for a chance for Chelsea, and he gets it. He comes in with Victor Moses as the Blues take on West Brom at the Hawthorns. Juan Mata drops to the bench.

Stephen Ireland starts for Aston Villa at his former Eastlands home, and City have started well – dominating possession in the early stages.

Bad news for Newcastle fans – ‘Papiss Cisse will play no part in today’s match following a dispute with the Senegalese Football Federation after he missed their international match in midweek. The Magpies did not want him to travel because of a back injury but Senegal have now invoked FIFA’s five-day rule.’ Then again, given his lack of form…

Goal – Reading 0-1 EVERTON

Everton started today first place in the table, and Steven Naismith has made the most of a mistake by Jobi McAnuff to put the Toffees in front.

Goal – WEST BROM 1-0 Chelsea

A delightful cross from James Morrison – surely one of the most unheralded midfielders in the Premier League – is headed home by ‘whatsisname,’ according to Paul Merson.

‘Whatsisname’ is known to us as Shane Long, with his sixth goal of the season.

He hasn’t exactly been in great form and Roberto Mancini says that Costel Pantilimon will come in if there’s a run of bad games, but Joe Hart does well to save a goalbound effort from his own defender Vincent Kompany.

Goal – QPR 0-1 SOUTHAMPTON

A corner comes in from Adam Lallana and James Puncheon thinks he’s scored, but his shot is blocked on the line by Jose Bosingwa.

Rickie Lambert – having missed an effort just minutes earlier – nods the loose ball into an empty net. Huge goal for the Saints.

Wigan’s Ben Watson is in a lot of pain at Anfield after clashing with Raheem Sterling.

Sterling does not have the look of a man (or boy) who can do a lot of damage, but the Latics midfielder is holding his shin and may not last too long.

New knowledge of the day: Rotherham play in the New York Stadium.

I did not know that.

No goals at Anfield, the Etihad or the ground formerly known (quite evocatively) as the Sports Direct Arena, where Tim Krul has just produced a fine save from an unidentified Swansea football player.

Southampton appeal for a penalty after the ball strikes the hand of QPR’s Ryan Nelsen, but the referee is having none of it at all.

Goal: West Brom 1-1 CHELSEA

Chelsea have made Paul Merson try to pronounce Azpilicueta, which did not end prettily. The Spaniard is involved in the build-up as Eden Hazard heads the visitors level at the far post.

Brendan Rodgers appears to have made that rarest of managerial decisions – a tactical change before the half time break. Suso comes off and Jordan Henderson is on for the Reds.

Goals – MANCHESTER CITY 1-0 Aston Villa, QPR 0-2 SOUTHAMPTON

The deadline has been broken at the Etihad. Villa can’t deal with Samir Nasri’s corner and the ball pinballs around the box. It eventually drops the way of David Silva, who can’t miss from five yards out.

Meanwhile, James Puncheon has curled the ball home as the Saints double their lead against a woeful, woeful QPR side.

The half-times are coming in…

Shane Long heads West Brom in front against Chelsea, who equalised through Eden Hazard…

And we’re back for the second half, as Boaz Myhill pulls off a sharp save from Daniel Sturridge at the Hawthorns.

Goal – QPR 1-2 Southampton

Adel Taarabt works his magic down the left, as he finds Junior Hoilett and the former Blackburn man finds the net.

Southampton have still not managed to keep a clean sheet in the league this season.

Goals – WEST BROM 2-1 Chelsea, LIVERPOOL 1-0 Wigan, READING 1-1 Everton, MANCHESTER CITY 2-0 Aston Villa

It is ALL happening.

To the Hawthorns – Shane Long is playing an absolute blinder and the Tipperary man’s cross finds Peter Odemwingie, who heads past Petr Cech.

To Anfield – Jean Beausejour’s misplaced pass is picked up by Raheem Sterling. The 17-year-old tears forward before pulling back to Luis Suarez,  who puts the Reds in front.

To the Madejski – Great ball in from Nicky Shorey, and Adam Le Fondre gets in front of Seamus Coleman, leaping to direct a header into the top corner.

And to the Etihad, where Jon Moss awards a dubious penalty to City after Ron Vlaar is wrongly adjudged to have fouled Yaya Toure. Nonsense. Anyway, Sergio Aguero scores from the spot.

Goal – Newcastle 0-1 SWANSEA

A poor goalkick from Tim Krul is seized upon by Pablo Hernandez. The winger dinks the ball between the six-yard box and the penalty spot, and Michu is on hand to head the ball home.

Goals – LIVERPOOL 2-0 Wigan, MANCHESTER CITY 3-0 Aston Villa

Luis Enrique, venturing into the centre of the Liverpool midfield, slots a lovely ball through to Suarez, who slots the ball past Ali Al Habsi. That’s the Uruguayan’s 13th goal of the season.

At the Etihad, Barry Bannan is punished for a handball and Carlos Tevez tucks in the penalty.

Goals – MANCHESTER CITY 4-0 Aston Villa, LIVERPOOL 3-0 Wigan

Another goal from Sergio Aguero, who drills home a deflected effort at the near post.

At Anfield, another quite brilliant passage of play between Sterling and Suarez, who play a one-two before the England winger’s shot is palmed into the path of the resurgent Jose Enrique by Al Habsi, and the Spaniard can’t miss.

Goal – MANCHESTER CITY 5-0 Aston Villa

You’d feel a bit sorry for Aston Villa if they weren’t such a nondescript side, and they’re being routed. Carlos Tevez taps in his second at the far post. Assist for Samir Nasri.

Goal – READING 2-1 Everton

Not a great day for Seamus Coleman, who gives away a penalty at the Madejski Stadium.

Adam Le Fondre steps up  - and scores!

It should be 2-2 at the Hawthorns. Chelsea substitute Juan Mata puts Daniel Sturridge in but it’s a tremendous save from Boaz Myhill.

Goal – QPR 1-3 SOUTHAMPTON

Morgan Schneiderlin wriggles his way through and the ball strikes Anton Ferdinand for an own goal. A miserable run for the Hoops, who still have not won a Premier League game this season.

Goal – Newcastle 0-2 SWANSEA

Danny Graham, on for Michu, draws a save from Krul after a fine run down the left. The Toon ‘keeper can only palm it into the path of Jonathan de Guzman and it looks like the Swans are going to claim all three points.

The Manchester United team to face Norwich is…

Goal – NEWCASTLE 1-2 Swansea

Well into time added on at St James’ Park. Ben Arfa crosses and his compatriot Sylvain Marveaux hits the crossbar, with Demba Ba on hand to head in the rebound.

We have full-times in all the matches.

Liverpool are now unbeaten in seven Premier League matches, and they have Luis Suarez (2) and the impressive Jose Enrique to thank for an easy win over Wigan. That was only Enrique’s second Premier League goal, and first for the Reds.

It’s been a bad day for some of the big guns. Adam Le Fondre scored both of Reading’s goals in a win over Everton, while Shane Long and Peter Odemwingie accounted for Chelsea at the Hawthorns. West Brom go fourth. FOURTH!

Newcastle underestimated the threat of Swansea, who won 2-1, while Mark Hughes could be on the job sites by the end of the weekend as QPR still have not won a top flight match this season. They lost this one 3-1 to Southampton.

Manchester City thrashed Aston Villa 5-0 at the Etihad, while Arsenal duplicated their 5-2 win over Spurs from last season at the Emirates.

We’ll soon be live for Norwich v Manchester United, and thanks for keeping up…

As it happened: Arsenal v Tottenham, Premier League >
