Fortunately for the visitors, the angle is tight and the Finnish side don’t make the most of the opportunity, allowing Irish players to get back in numbers and the chance is ultimately wasted.

A big result for Ireland in the context of this group.
Finland, as the second seeds, would have been expecting to win this game.
Vera Pauw’s side are now in a very strong position for that second-place spot in the group that would earn them a place in the play-offs.
That said, they have been in promising positions before in qualification, and so will know there is no room for complacency with six games still to play.
However, when you consider this result alongside the narrow loss to Sweden and the recent win over Australia, there is obvious evidence to suggest the team are making genuine progress under Pauw.
