SHAMROCK ROVERS COMFORTABLY disposed of Martin Russell’s Limerick in front of a healthy crowd at the Markets Field tonight.
Limerick’s fate will come down to the final day as they wished, but it wasn’t due to their own performance, as they were second best for 90 minutes.

On a night where Limerick had to limit mistakes, they gifted Shamrock Rovers the lead goal after just 14 minutes.
As is routine for Limerick, both central defenders split from the goal kick. Hall fed Williams, but his pass to Duggan was telegraphed by Ryan Brennan.
Brennan quickly fed the in-form Brandon Miele and he finished calmly past Hall in the Limerick goal.
The home side’s woes were doubled 20 minutes later when overplaying in their own half led to the concession of a free kick on the edge of their box.
Stephen McPhail stepped up and curled a beautiful effort into the top corner to leave the hosts with a mountain to climb.
Shamrock Rovers’ pursuit of second spot is well and truly alive on the final day. Limerick will be hoping they get it, as a Rovers win over Drogs combined with a victory for Limerick sees them avoid the automatic relegation spot.
