Lewis Hamilton endured a rather humiliating experience at Wimbledon yesterday

The Formula 1 champion was the latest to fall foul of the tournament’s strict dress code.

LEWIS HAMILTON EXCITEDLY posted a message to his Instagram account yesterday afternoon to let everyone know he was on his way to the men’s singles final between Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer at Wimbledon’s Centre Court.

‘Honoured to have been invited’, he said.

But it proved to be an embarrassing experience for the reigning world Formula 1 champion.

It turned out that Hamilton failed to read the fine-print on the invitation and fell foul of the strict Royal Box dress-code.

Men are expected to wear a jacket and tie and going by a photo Hamilton posted to social media upon arriving at SW19, he showed up without either.

A spokesman for Hamilton later said:

Due to an unfortunate misunderstanding regarding dress code at Wimbledon, Lewis is very disappointed to have missed the men’s final.”

According to those at Wimbledon, if Hamilton was deemed to have been in violation of the dress code, he wouldn’t have been allowed access to the Royal Box but would still have been offered the chance to get whatever he needed and return.
