THE SURPRISE PACKAGE of last year’s Leinster Schools Cup, St Andrew’s College, booked their place in the second round of this year’s competition with a convincing win over The King’s Hospital in Donnybrook today.
The Booterstown school will now face Newbridge College in the next round after the quarter-final draw was made in Old Wesley RFC following Andrews’ 40-10 win.
Defending champions Blackrock, who beat Terenure on Sunday, will face Cistercian College Roscrea while ten-time winners Belvedere were paired with CBC Monkstown.
The stand-out tie of the round, however, is the meeting of pre-tournament favourites St Michael’s and last year’s runners-up Clongowes Wood.
