OFFALY SECURED AN incredible 7-30 to 0-2 victory over Kilkenny in their Leinster Minor Football Championship game today.

Ruairi McNamee, Shane Tierney (3), Ryan Heavin, John Egan and Alan Geoghegan were the goalscorers, as their side secured an emphatic win (to put it mildly).

Meanwhile, Dublin beat Longford 2-11 to 0-14 in their clash at Glennon Brothers Pearse Park today

An Aaron Byrne goal after eight minutes helped the Dubs establish a 1-7 to 0-9 half-time lead, before Con O’Callaghan claimed another goal for his team early into the second half to make it 2-7 to 0-10.

Longford continued to show admirable resolve, ensuring a tense finish, but the hosts ultimately failed to get the goal they required for a draw.

Meanwhile, Kildare edged out Westmeath 1-12 to 1-8 in their encounter in Mullingar.

A Sean Dempsey goal for Kildare helped them claim a 1-6 to 0-4 half-time lead. Westmeath then threatened a comeback, scoring a goal late on through Aiden Byrne, but their opponents ultimately held out for a four-point victory.

In Páirc Tailteann, Meath had little difficulty in overcoming Wicklow, winning by a scoreline of 3-18 to 1-6.

Daire Rowe and David McLoughlin were among the goalscorers, as the Royal County progressed without undue difficulty.

In O’Moore Park, Laois were comfortable winners over Carlow. David Ashton and Tom Shiel among the scorers as the hosts ran out 0 -14 to 0 – 05 winners having taken full advantage of a strong wind to lead 0 -11 to 0 -04 at the break.

Finally, Wexford defeated Louth 3-15 to 2-5 in Drogheda.

Two goals from Seamus Casey and one from substitute Tom Byrne made the difference. Ryan Burns scored a goal for Louth early in the second half, but even then, the visitors had secured a 1-12 to 1-2 lead, and ultimately enjoyed a relatively easy passage to the quarter-finals.

Dublin 2-11 Longford 0-14

Louth 2-5 Wexford 3-15

Kilkenny 0-2 Offaly 7-30
